The answers to the question "What should we do?" are often so numerous and sometimes contradictory that normative orientation becomes essential. The Department of Ethics and Social Studies is committed to this question and is committed to multiple perspectives and differentiation in a variety of discourses. In this way, contributions are to be made to the pressing issues of our time.

As a scientific department at a public university, we try to do justice to this claim in various areas. Our work is therefore based on four main pillars:

1. (interdisciplinary) research
2. research-led teaching
3. know-how transfer within the framework of relevant bodies (university and/or public ethics commission)
4. science communication (Science2Public & Science2Professionals)
